HINDUSTAN, 2nd Nov, 2019 JOSEPHEST- A CULTURAL CARNIVAL DAY 1 “The ultimate victory in competition is derived from the inner satisfaction of knowing that you have done your best and that you have got the most out of what you had to give”. Howard Cosell One of the most highly anticipated events which the city of Prayagraj looks up to, since its inception in 1977 i.e. Josephest. Earlier it was called Çonfluence’ and later the mega event came to be known as ‘Josephest’. Carrying this legacy further, a magnificent cultural extravaganza was organized on November 1st 2019 by the St Joseph’s College, Prayagraj inside the college campus. The event commenced with the arrival of the dignitaries, the College Principal, Rev. Fr.Thomas Kumar, Principal, St Mary’s Convent, Sr. Jyoti, Director Nazareth, Rev Fr. Reginald D’Souza, the Vice-Principal, Rev. Fr. Joseph Sagayanathan, the Additional Administrator Mr., Aubrey Mc Gowan and the Staff Co-ordinator, Mr Jyoti Dube and the Chief Guest for the day Honorable Justice Vineet Saran, an alumni of this prestigious institution.The event continued with a Reading from the Holy Bible and a special prayer by Mrs Ancy Thomas. The programme proceeded further with a melodious prayer song by the Senior Section College Choir and lightening of the lamp by the honorable dignitaries and the College Captain Utkarsh Singh, which was then followed by the singing of the College Anthem. The Staff Coordinator Mr Jyoti Dube introduced the Chief Guest for the day Justice Vineet Saran who was registered as an advocate on 28 July 1980, practiced at the Allahabad High Court in all matters, was appointed as a permanent Judge of the Allahabad High Court on 14 February 2002, transferred to Karnataka High Court on 16 February 2015, appointed as Chief Justice of Odisha High Court on 26 February 2016, and appointed a Judge of Supreme Court of India on 7 August 2018, followed by the floral welcome of the Chief Guest by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Thomas Kumar. Kshitij Benedict gave a brief introduction of the theme for Josephest 2019 i.e.”The Warriors’s Way- let the War begin” to the audience followed by a well executed Powerpoint Presentation prepared by Mr. James Martin. Post a grand Opening Ceremony dance performance led by Divy Kapoor and his team, the participating teams were given a grand welcome by the host school, St Joseph’s College Prayagraj. The College Captain, Utkarsh Singh, took the oath for the event with all the participating teams, code named Celtic, Visigoths, Knights, Mongols, Lancers, Aztecs, Gladiators and Macedonians.
