SJC DEDICATES CROSS COUNTRY RACE TO THE FATHER OF THE NATION
“Many will start fast, few will FINISH STRONG. ” Gary Ryan Blair Balmy weather and a cloudy sky gave just the right fillip to the monumental cross country race of St. Joseph’s College, which was held on 19th of October 2019, with more than 200 participants from all the four houses, taking part in the race. The participants had to cover a distance of 5.6 kms to successfully complete the marathon. The marathon was flagged off at 5:45 a.m. by the Principal Rev. Fr. Thomas Kumar which indicated the commencement of the cross country race from the campus of St. Joseph’s College. In all, there were a total of eight checkpoints in the entire race with St.Joseph’s college campus being the finishing point of the race, as well. As the participants were representing their respective houses, so it acted as a morale booster for them as they had to win this marathon, earning points for their houses which would go a long way in winning the prestigious Athletics Shield. Akhand Pratap Singh of the Green House emerged victorious in the senior category by securing the first position, by completing the cross country race in just 18 minutes and 11 seconds. Shreyas Gupta was the winner of the cross country race in the junior category and he took 21 minutes and 43 seconds to complete the race.
